Abhishek Goel
Having had his first brush at leadership during university at the international student-managed NPO, AIESEC, Abhishek wanted to create an organization where employees are happy and solve problems for people across the globe. Through an exchange-program in Japan, Abhishek found that Japanese researchers faced an immense challenge in communicating internationally. These two factors combined led him to co-found Cactus in 2002 India to help Japanese researchers and universities communicate internationally (now over 200 employees and offices in India, Japan, US, South Korea). In 2002, Abhishek co-founded Cactus with its first business unit: Editage, an editing service for researchers. Since then Editage has expanded to providing author editing and manuscript editing and writing services primarily in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, China and the US having serviced over 20,000 researchers worldwide. Editage also works with over 100 publishers, journals, pharmaceutical companies, corporations, agencies and institutions in various geographies. While leading business development and strategy for Editage, he played a key role in establishing two more fast-growing business units: Cripton (business transcription) in 2004 and Cactus Education (English education) in 2005. The education division focuses on providing online writing courses for individuals, corporations and universities covering academic writing, business writing and general writing. Cactus set up its office in the US in 2008 to provide medical writing services to pharmaceutical companies and in 2009 Cactus was appointed as the liaison office for the City of Yokohama government in Mumbai, India. In his current role, he manages the Japan office and guides the strategy for the three business units to help Cactus move towards its Vision 2012. Abhishek is passionate about impacting education in Japan and is currently working with some universities in supporting their internationalization activities. Abhishek received a bachelor of commerce degree from the University of Mumbai but believes that most of his learning came through his involvement with the Mumbai and Japan chapters of AIESEC.
