Overview

The core material for the course is 'Teaching English to Children in Asia' (Longman) by David Paul, and it is necessary to have access to either the English or Japanese edition of this book. Additional reading and reseacrh can be carried out through the Internet.


Structure and grading

There are four modules. These modules can be taken at your own pace and submitted whenever you are ready to do so. For each module you write a report either in English or Japanese. You receive a grade for each module. There is also an overall grade on completion of the course. Most of those taking the course receive a 'Pass' , some receive a 'Pass with merit' or 'Pass with distinction'.

Each module is divided into two sections. For each section you write short answers to 36 questions and write one longer assignment.

Fees and applications

The fee is ¥23,000 (¥18,000 for members of ETJ). For this fee you receive a list of questions that help you think through each topic, notification of grades, and the certificate when you finish the course. Applications for the course should be made to Rie Totomi .
