One-day courses held in four cities in May/June each year

Dates and courses

Courses are held in Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka and Fukuoka in May and June each year. Courses start at 10:00 and finish at 5:00 with a one-hour break for lunch.


Introductory certificate / certificate

Different course contents are offered in alternating years. To obtain the 'Introductory Certificate' it is necessary to attend one course and write a report based on that course. To obtain the 'Certificate' it is necessary to attend two courses and write a report on each of the courses.


Who the courses are for

The courses are appropriate for teachers of Japanese junior and senior high school students, college students and adults.


Topics

Each course consists of four topics, so over a two-year period eight different topics are covered. Recent topics have included classroom activities, reading skills, motivation techniques, listening, vocabulary, classroom management, fluency.... All sessions are presented by leading specialists.


Fees

The admission fee for ETJ members is 4,000 yen (paid on the day of the course). Non-members pay 5,000 yen. However, membership of ETJ is free, and you can join on the day of the course and just pay 4,000 yen.

ETJ members only need to e-mail your name and say which course you would like to attend. Non-members should also send your address, telephone number, fax number, e-mail address, and the name of the school you teach at.
Reservations are usually confirmed from the middle of April, but can be placed at any time.
